Women-only workshops and retreats are a foundational aspect of the vision of SheBirths.

These events give participants an opportunity to explore and apply the concepts in the book in a hands-on, interactive way with the positive support of other women. All workshops and retreats are modified to meet the needs of the individual group, which provides the best possible experience for each participant. This preparation is done through a telephone interview with the author and workshop facilitator, Marcie Macari, and is optimally scheduled a month in advance of the preferred date.

Marcie Macari is the author of the book: She Births: A Modern Woman's Guidebook For an Ancient Rite of Passage and has professional training and extensive experience in conducting a wide variety of workshops. Using lecture, symbolism, workshop exercises, excerpts from the book, and group participation, Marcie Macari weaves a magical journey through discovering not only the core of our feminine power, and how this connects us to all other women, but how natural childbirth is a rite of passage that can propel you into a brilliant new way of seeing and being in the world.
There are 3 main types of She Births Workshops and Retreats, which will each meet different goals:

1.) Workshops for expectant mothers. These workshops encourage and empower, providing a safe space for identifying Spirit in the Birth process. These workshops affirm a woman’s ability to birth naturally, and offer the opportunity to connect with others on similar paths.

2.) Workshops designed to encourage and build solidarity among women. The ability to bear, birth, and nurture is key to what makes us female. Using Birth as a springboard, we discuss views on Birth, and draw parallels between childbirth and the ways we as women, give birth to ideas and ourselves. This workshop is best offered to mult-generational groups of women, and is ideal for mother/daughter functions.

3.) Workshops for doulas, midwives, and birthing class instructors. This workshop provides an opportunity to reconnect and renew the vision of those who serve women and their partners in preparation for, and the journey through Birth. It's also an excellent way to experience solidarity and to renew the collective vision of those who work in this very important, but often under-appreciated field.
