Nadine Richardson is one of World’s leading birth educators; having pioneered the World’s first and only scientifically verified childbirth education program.
Nadine is a mother and has been a childbirth educator, labour assistant (Doula) and prenatal yoga teacher for over 20 years. She is the director of The Birthing Institute and Founder of She Births®.
She Births® is her own holistic and evidence based birth course for pregnant couples that was developed within her local community of Bondi Beach, Sydney. After many years of attending births, supporting hundreds of families and influenced by her medically trained family she became inspired to develop a more comprehensive preparation for birth that made a real difference.
She has shared her unique methodology with over 12,000 parents for well over a decade. She lectures and runs workshops for midwives, doctors and health professionals as well as speaking within the corporate space about the importance of pregnancy/parental rights and birth preparation.
As a mother of two naturally raised children, Annalee has an unwavering passion for personal and community-focused service, supporting Women’s Voices and Choices in Pregnancy, Birth & Breastfeeding.
Annalee is the former President of Maternity Choices Australia, the nation’s oldest maternity advocacy non-profit. and the Co-Founder of PBB Media (Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond Media).
A few words from Annalee:
“Birth. There is nothing more pivotal in a human’s time on earth than the two gateways in which they travel into and forth on the journey of life. How our parents prepare for and receive us, how they are recurved, how they experience our arrival, what it looks and feels like – all imprint on our unique blueprint.
Teaching childbirth education is never just about a few moments in time, rather setting you up with powerful lifelong tools for a meaningful and well path.
It is an immense pleasure to share She Births®, after learning the ropes from its founder and my dear friend Nadine, and to be part of this incredible team of dedicated women!
It is always the highest of honours to be in the presence and grace of parents and life coming through”
If ever there was a time to pause and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit it’s now, during pregnancy.
Why not make the most of this special time as a family of two (soon to be three), and extend your She Births® Weekend Course into a Babymoon in the breathtaking Byron Shire.
Choose from an idyllic stay by the ocean in Byron Bay or Brunswick Heads. Even Cabarita and Kingscliff are just 20 minutes away from our venue!
Simply put, a babymoon is a long weekend of indulgence and blissful timeout, to celebrate your relationship as you prepare for the arrival of your baby.
Of course, you can always stay at a few favourites like Elements or Crystalbrook Byron (formerly known as Byron at Byron) or perhaps you could go for something a little alternative or in the bush?
Here is a collection of the favourite Airbnb listings in the Byron Bay area, and in Brunswick Heads.
Stayz also has some lovely homely getaways where you can bliss out in the Byron Shire, hinterland or by the beach.
Take a dip in the beautiful beaches of Brunswick, visit the incredible Tintenbar Falls, just a 5-minute walk to the most picturesque little pool, grotto and falls. Maybe take a few snacks to rest when you get down there and marvel in the beauty of it all. Just like the Russians, you can practice the intensity of contractions by swimming in the cold water too.
Walk the Cape Byron walking track and play wild mountain goat spotting or whale watching. Swim, swim, swim! Byron hinterland has an incredible array of beaches.
Kayak with the dolphins. Snorkel with the 100-year-old cool dude green turtles – see if they sense your pregnant belly. Meditate at one of these glorious sanctuaries.
Book in for a treatment at Kiva Spa, (we recommend the pregnancy massage, facial and cold tub) and send your partner to the hot tub spa! You can relax in chairs beside and sip endless herbal teas.
Another favourite is Comma – make sure to say Nadine sent you 😉
Nurture your body and baby with some delicious food. Nadine personally recommends: Barrio, Bayleaf Cafe, Harvest Restaurant, Ethel, Da Vino
Over the past 20 years Byron Bay has emerged into a thriving and vibrant cultural community devoted to wellness, holistic health, great food, the arts, and good vibes. Just about the perfect ingredients for baby-making parents to be, wouldn’t you say? Situated on the northeastern coast of New South Wales, about 8 hours from Sydney. Check out fly and drive times here.
The benefits were massive. I have told many people I feel it was so worth the money and time. I feel it had a direct impact on my birth and the preparation I put into it. It was definitely worth travelling and making a weekend of it.
We were able to enjoy the time away but also focus on the course and ‘homework’ tasks as we were away from our day to day lives.
It was a special weekend to focus on our upcoming birth, meet other couples and also enjoy time together.
My partner had been working long hours and we had not been able to have a lot of quality time together. The weekend allowed us to set aside time to spend together which might not have happened had we not attended She Births® in Byron.
Address: St John’s School Mullumbimby, 11 Murwillumbah Rd Mullumbimby NSW 2482
The course venue has plenty of space and fresh air. A beautiful environment to attend the She Births® course and prepare for your birth. There is room to spread out and create as much ‘social distance’ as you like.
Whether you are a local, or just visiting, we highly recommend connecting with these local community providers to support your pregnancy:

Our She Births experience was better than I could have ever imagined. Despite already having read and watched so many things I still took away and learnt so much from the 2 day course. The balance of a scientific approach paired with the knowledge to trust your intuition and knowing has made us feel so prepared and equipped for birth and parenthood and the adventure that awaits us. Amazing program. Feel totally ready for an empowered birthing experience. Nadine delivers in a relaxed way and is super knowledgeable.
My husband Adam and I can not recommend She Births enough. We did the course with Nadine on the weekend in Byron. Adam feels after doing the course he is so well equipped to support me in birth and hold space. Birth is such an important right of passage that we are so excited to enter in with love and respect.
