With the imminent arrival of my second daughter; I was full of fear and anxiety from my experience of the birth of my first child. My first birth experience did not go as ‘planned’. I remember going into that birth feeling so mentally strong however in my distant thoughts I couldn’t help feeling like I’d let myself down. I struggled to feel mentally prepared and thought if I failed last time feeling so strong how am I ever going to do it again in this state of fear.

My midwife mentioned there was a she births online course. (Perfect as we now had a busy 2yr old to juggle). My husband and I completed the course and I can honestly contribute my sense of pride and accomplishment to She Births®.

I am so grateful I had the opportunity to birth my second daughter, under the guidance of she births. It gave me a sense of closure from my first birth, and allowed me the birth experience I longed for. I felt so in control and capable the whole time, and am now at peace, a proud mother of two beautiful daughters.

But, labour was not something I was particularly looking forward to. She Births®. It transformed my whole perspective. My husband and I watched short videos and grew more confident together. Nadine’s soothing voice combined with the education and understanding of what would happen to my body, and how to cope was amazing. Understanding our body’s powerful role in labour, and how to actively birth, the breathing techniques and, also, visualisations, truly helped.

I have been telling anyone who will listen that She Births® is a brilliant birthing resource for a positive birth: single friends, married friends, potential grandparents! I feel so privileged to have been so prepared for my first.

Thank you again, Nadine, and your team, for providing me with the tools I needed to have a successful birth. I think back fondly to my daughter’s birth. I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved. I am also in awe of my husband for labouring with me and am so grateful for this bonding experience.

Tools we had learned helped my husband and I to keep things moving whilst staying calm. The anaesthetist and nurses commented they had never seen someone so calm and serene going in for an emergency caesarean, and several midwives later visited me on the ward saying they had heard about what a great fight we had put up for our VBAC, how knowledgeable we were, and how proud they were!

SO thankful for everything.

What I would give to have Nadine or a She Births® midwife in the room for my birth, when my exhausted husband and a midwife I hadn’t met before could no longer be the tower of strength I perhaps needed.

My main feedback is that I’d love for more doctors/midwives to do this course. Oh and maybe if someone could have mentioned that pushing feels like you need to do the world’s most painful poo! Seriously!"
